Gregory Brent Burleson, 49, of Waxahachie, formerly of Dimmitt passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015 in Dallas. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt with Coby Gilbreath officiating, burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt. Family and friend visitation will be Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Greg was born May 22, 1965 in Amarillo, Texas to Ronald and Janelda Burleson. He grew up in Dimmitt and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1983. He attended and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1987 and was Red Raider proud, he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, and he was on the meat judging team at Tech and won many awards. He was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan to the end. He married the love of his life Susie Schmidt January 24, 1992 in Garden City, Kansas and made this their home for 6 years and then Idaho for 16 years. His life revolved around his family, his children and his friends, if you were his friend, you were his friend for life. Greg loved people and respected and loved every place he worked and he was good at what he did. His clients became his friends. He dearly missed his mama and his grandpa, because they were two very important people in his life and were very special to him. Greg enjoyed fishing, team roping, hunting and golfing but his most precious time was spent with his daughter and her horse shows or with his son and his wrestling matches, football games or his debates meets. He is survived by his wife, Susie Burleson of Waxahachie, a daughter Ashten Burleson of Waxahachie, a son Zach Schaller of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a brother Toby Burleson and his wife Cindy of Austin; his uncle, Everett Airington and his wife Darla of Dallas, his Honorary Godmother Annie Ruddy of Amarillo, his aunt Rosena Yeager of Oklahoma and several cousins.
