Harry Traylor, 84, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 in Dimmitt. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 1:00PM in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Alford Sanders officiating. Local arrangements are under the direct care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Viewing will be held on Friday, April 17, 2020 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at the funeral home.
Due to the mandates that have been placed upon us during this time in relation to COVID-19 only (10) people are allowed in the funeral home at one time. The family has requested those friends and family members who may not be able to attend services to please sign the online condolence on the funeral homes website. The graveside service will be livestreamed through the funeral homes Facebook page beginning at 1:00PM on Friday.
Harry Traylor was born on March 20, 1936 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Robert Traylor and Edna (Hall) Traylor. Harry grew up in the Houston area before moving to Dimmitt. He served in the United States Army and was a Korean War veteran. On November 25, 1993 he married Mary (Spencer) in Dimmitt and they made Dimmitt there home. Harry was a career oriented truck driver and drove a truck for Newton Trucking for 22 years and then drove for Top of Texas of Hereford for close to 10 years. Then he became self-employed and drove for himself before his retirement.
Harry enjoyed traveling with his family on many trips to the mountains and was always ready and willing to go fishing whenever the possibility arose. Some of the special times were when he sat around with his children and grandchildren and told family stories about different times in his life. Harry was always up to a game of basketball at the house even through his later years of life and was known for treating everyone as they were his own. Harry will be remembered as a hard worker and one who loved his family dearly.
Harry is survived by his wife, Mary Traylor of Dimmitt, children, Wesley Traylor of Albuquerque, NM, Jeff Taylor of Clovis, NM, Keith Adams of Iowa, Sharlamar Jackson of Austin, TX, Elissa Ashley Okonkwo and husband Charles of Lubbock, TX and Dasani Traylor of Dimmitt, TX, 1 brother, Booby Traylor of Amherst, TX, 11 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Rochelle Baldwin, sisters, Alma Marie Adams and Alma Lee Walker and brother, Robert Traylor.
