Jackie Edwards, 76, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on October 21, 2013 in Dimmitt. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at 10:00AM in the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt with Brendon Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00PM in Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home. Family visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral home. Jackie was born on October 16, 1937 in Post, Texas to J.C. and Mary Alice Stegall. She grew up in Bronco, Texas. She attended and graduated high school in Tatum, New Mexico. After graduation she attended Draughons School of Business in Lubbock. Jackie married Leroy Edwards on June 30, 1957 in Bronco, Texas. Jackie and Leroy moved to Dimmitt in 1992 from Adrian, Texas. She enjoyed cake decorating, all kinds of crafts, making quilts, volunteering her time for her church and community, but most of all she enjoyed making "scrubbies" for her family and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dimmitt. Jackie is survived by her husband Leroy Edwards of Dimmitt, 2 sons, Brian Edwards and wife Teresa of Lubbock, Bruce Edwards and wife Deanna of Lubbock, 2 daughters, Beverly Birdsell and husband Cary of Wilson, and Sherri Chandler and husband Steve of Lubbock, 1 sister, Vinnie Darnell of Eunice, NM, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Jackie is preceded in death by a sister, Alice Jane Jaquess and a brother-in-law, Willis Jaquess.
