Jackie Alton Laurent, 68, of Dimmitt, passed away on March 17, 2012 in Dimmitt. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00PM in the First Assembly of God Church in Dimmitt with Israel Olivo officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Jackie was born on September 7, 1943 in Sunset, Texas to Joe Ben and Inez Laurent. Jackie married Diane Bailey on August 27, 1961. Jackie and his family have lived in Dimmitt for 20 years and he worked for Nelson Drilling in Dimmitt before his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles, but most of all loved spending time with his family. He was always a joy to be around. He is survived by his spouse, Diane Baily Laurent of Dimmitt, one son, Shannon Laurent of Dimmitt, five brothers, James Laurent of Lamar, CO, Don Laurent of Dimmitt, Bill Laurent of Denver, Mike Laurent of Dumas, and Larry Laurent of Oklahoma ,one grandson, Nicolas Guebara of Clovis, NM. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patsy Green.
