James (Jim) Bailey, 83, of Dimmitt, left this world to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in Dimmitt. Funeral Services will be at 3:00PM in the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt with Pastors Clint Young and Kris Knippa officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at the funeral home. James (Jim) Bailey was born on March 13, 1928 in Guion, Taylor County, Texas to Hasten and Nellie Brown Bailey. He became a born again Christian in 1957 in Levelland, Texas. He married Mary Catherine Moize on September 2, 1945. Jim lived in Friona from 1958 -1980. He worked for Black Grain Elevator and later was manager of Tri-County Elevator. Later, Jim moved to Rio Vista, TX where he retired from JC Penney in 1991. In 2000, he moved to Dimmitt, TX. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and wanted others to know him. Jim is survived by his wife Kitty, 1 daughter, Cathy Jackson and husband Cary of Dimmitt, 3 sons John Woodson of Friona, Fred Bailey and wife Beverly of Friona, and Willie Bailey and his wife Sally of Scurry, TX, 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Odell Bailey, 2 sisters, Norma Cummings and Mildred Hendon, 1 daughter-in-law, Vera Bailey, and 1 great-grandson, Alec Mangum.
