James C. Cobb, 78, of Dimmitt, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in Dimmitt. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2:00PM in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Leroy Maxwell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. James was born on February 16, 1934 to Chester and Juanita Miller Cobb in Eldorado, Texas. He spent his young years in and around the San Angelo area. James enlisted in the Marines only to be discharged for having a childhood injury to his right eye. The Army, however, was not as picky. He served in the Army spending much of his tour of duty as a paratrooper with the 82nd Air Borne Division and cleaning up after WWII in Germany. Thankfully, he was not involved in active combat. James suffered from severe hearing loss from driving tanks in the service of his country. After being discharged from the service he met and married Bonnie Pevehouse in Lubbock, Texas on July 3, 1962. He and Bonnie had three children, Marsha Cobb of Nazareth, Dana Cobb of Dimmitt and Tom Cobb of Paradise, TX. In 1976, James moved his family from Lubbock to the Dimmitt area. He spent most of his life, especially his later years as a carpenter in Dimmitt. James was known for his quick wit, skill with carpentry tools and his fairness in all things. Mr. Cobb was an honest, loving and hardworking husband, daddy, and PaPa. He is already terribly missed but because of his faith and teaching, his friends and family will forever hold a piece of him in their hearts. James was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Bonnie and Nona. He leaves behind his wife, three children, and seven grandchildren, Celena Hutter of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Chris Gregory of Amarillo, Tyler, Grayson, Elise, and Summer Cobb and Taylor Koch and one great-grandson, Cullen McDaniel.
