James "Cleve" McLain, 77, of Hart passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be Friday, October 14, 2011 at 10:30 AM at The First Baptist Church of Hart with Travis Hart officiating burial will follow at Hart Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Cleve was born September 16, 1934 in Hart, Texas to D.L. and Jometa McLain. Cleve graduated from Hart High School in 1952, he attended Texas Tech University for three years. He married Shirley Ann Todd on October 22, 1955. Cleve enjoyed horses, collecting guns, his children and his grandchildren and sports. He loved his Ray Price music. He retired from farming and went to work at the Tulia Correctional Facility for about 10 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hart. He is survived by his mother, Jometa McLain of Hart; two sons James Todd McLain and his wife Julie of Hart, Benny Don McLain and his wife Amiee of Nazareth. Three daughters Dana Ann Black and her husband Ricky of Nazareth; Sheryl Denee Albracht and her husband Steven of Hart and Jill D'Shawn Smith and her husband Jerry of Amarillo. One sister Geneva Adkisson and her husband Dan of Tomball. 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren He is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann McLain, one son Cary Cleve McLain and his father D.L. McLain.
