James "Jim" Schaus, 91, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019 in Amarillo.  Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 10:00AM in the Coulter Road Baptist Church with Pastor Lance Herrington of Paramount Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will follow at 3:00PM in Hart Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.  The family will receive friends at Colonial Funeral Home on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM.

Jim was born on September 1, 1928 in Wyckoff, New Jersey to Willis Schaus and Aurelia (Saxby) Schaus.  Jim graduated from Ridgewood High School in New Jersey and then enlisted in the United States AirForce and was stationed in Texas.  After being honorably discharged from the Air Force he began working for Tex-Air Gas for forty-five years until his retirement.  Jim and Opal Landtroop were married on November 4, 1995 and lived in Amarillo, Texas until his death.

Jim is survived by his wife, Opal Schaus of Amarillo, TX, 2 sons, Marlon Schaus and wife Paula of Rio Rancho, NM and Stephen Schaus and wife Cindy of Edmond, OK, 2 daughters, Vickey Teltow of Portales, NM and Nancy Noyes and husband John of Amarillo, TX, 1 sister, Margaret Hall of Rensselaer, NY along with 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Aurelia Schaus, daughter, Mickey Lindholm of Houston, TX, brothers, Edward Schaus of West Lebanon, NY and John Schaus of Oakland, NJ.

The family has requested memorials be made to the Coulter Road Baptist Church, 4108 Coulter St., Amarillo, TX 79109 or to a favorite charity.
