Jo Taylor Behrends, 84, of Odessa, Texas, formerly of Dimmitt, TX, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 2, 2016 in Odessa, TX. Jo passed away peacefully in her sleep after a short illness. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016, from 9:00 AM until service time, at funeral home. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday February 8, 2016 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend T. C. Broom, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Dimmitt, officiating. Interment to follow in Castro Memorial Gardens in Dimmitt, Texas. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas.

Jo was born on November 15, 1931 in Windom, Fannin County, Texas, to Betty Cobb and Sidney M. Taylor and was the youngest of 5 children. She married Bill E. Behrends on August 31, 1958 in Sunnyside, Texas. Jo was in legal work all of her life, going from abstracting to Legal Secretary and Assistant. Jo earned the Certified Legal Assistant designation from the National Association of Legal Assistants and went on to serve various posts including the President of the Amarillo Chapter of the Texas Association of Legal Secretaries and the State of Education Chairperson for the Texas Chapter. She worked for the Gary Bridges Law Office for many years in Odessa, Texas.

Jo is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill E. Behrends of Odessa, Texas and one son, Rich Behrends, also of Odessa, a brother, Thomas Richard Taylor of Phoenix, AZ, various nieces and nephews and the remaining Taylor clan in Northeast, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney M. and Betty Taylor, her step mother, Mary E. Fowlkes, one son, William Dean Behrends, one brother, Sidney Bob Taylor, two sisters, Joyce N. Taylor and Nelle Taylor Hankis and one step sister, Alline Nance.
