Joe E. Drerup, 76, of Nazareth passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 in Amarillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth at 11:00 AM with Rev. Ken Keller and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld as celebrants; burial to follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Nazareth. Rosary will be Tuesday evening at the church at 6:00 pm. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Joe was born October 23, 1937 to Edward and Lucille (Guggemos) Drerup in Castro County, Texas. He grew up in Nazareth and graduated from Nazareth High School. He married Imogene Huseman in 1964 in Nazareth. Joe was a farmer and a truck driver and raised horses. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of Nazareth; the Nazareth Lions Club, he was one of the founders of the Nazareth Fire Department and the German Festival. He helped with the Holy Family Cemetery for many years. He loved to attend the extra-curricular activities that his children and grandchildren were a part of. He especially loved to spend time and visit with his family and friends and he was one that never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife Imogene Drerup of Nazareth; 2 sons Kim Drerup of Nazareth and Wade Drerup and his wife Julie of Midlothian; 2 daughters Tammy Drerup of Humble and Tracy Ramsey and husband Bryan of Nazareth; 5 sisters Ethel Schmucker of Nazareth, Evelyn Ball of Plainview; Grace Colander of Point; Nancy Drerup of Roanoke and Carol Gary of Lubbock; 5 grandchildren Treva, Tyler and Tagan Ramsey and Hailey Drerup and Evan Drerup. He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 son Stanley Drerup.
