Joe Ortiz, 82, of Dimmitt passed away on Monday, December 12, 2012 in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church in Dimmitt with Rev. Ken Keller officiating and Deacon John Nino assisting, burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens cemetery in Dimmitt. Rosary and vigil will be recited on Thursday evening at 6:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home in Dimmitt. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Joe was born February 10, 1929 to Jose, Sr. and Herminia Ortiz in Moore County, Texas. Joe has been a resident of Dimmitt since 1970. He owned and operated Joe's Liquor store in Dimmitt for about 20 years. He worked for First United Bank in Dimmitt for numerous years as their landscaper. He enjoyed playing pool and cards and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Maria Ortiz of Dimmitt; a son Raymond Ortiz and his wife Mary Jane Ortiz of Amarillo. Four daughters Gloria Ortiz, Stella Lopez and Dora Espinosa all of Dimmitt and Lupita Salinas of Three Rivers, Texas. One brother Juan Ortiz of Devine, Texas. 11 Grandchildren and 31 Great Grandchildren He is preceded in death by one grandson Samuel Espinosa and seven sisters.
