Joe was born on September 7, 1935 in Chico, Texas to George Buford and Lorene (Wright) Weatherford.  He married Mary Lou (Garner) May 31, 1957 in Amarillo, Texas. Joe was employed by the United States Postal Service, for 20 years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Lee Street Baptist Church, Oddfellows, Cowpunchers and the Goodtimes Country and Western Dance Club.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Weatherford of Dimmitt, Texas, 4 children; Jan Perry and husband Walter of Tatum, Texas, Neal Weatherford and wife, Trish of Billings, Montana, Kim Weatherford of Dimmitt, Texas and Kyle Weatherford of Amarillo, Texas. He is also survived by a step-sister; Trudy Nicholson of Plano, Texas, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents George and Lorene Weatherford.
