John Garcia, 92, of Dimmitt passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dimmitt with celebrant Rev. Arockiaraj Malapady, with burial to follow in Bovina at the Bovina Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary to be Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

John was born in Harding County, New Mexico on August 8, 1925 to Gaspar and Felicita (Martinez) Garcia. John has been a resident of Castro County since 1961. He was an army veteran and entered into the service December of 1948-1949. He married the love of his life, Teresa Miranda Garcia on July 13, 1951 in Mosquero, NM.  John was a cowboy in his earlier years and later became a farmer for the majority of his adult life. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. John enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, driving his tractor, working in his yard, driving his wife, Teresa, to town and out to dinner, but his greatest love was spending time with his family and his grandchildren near and far. The family would also like to express their heartfelt, "Thank You" to Plains Memorial Hospital of Dimmitt for the excellent care and concern that was given above and beyond to John Garcia during his stay at the hospital.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Teresa Garcia of Dimmitt, his children, Virginia Juanita Brito and her husband, Heliodoro of Bovina; JoAnn Herrera and her significant other Erasmo Castillo of Dimmitt; David Garcia of Dumas; Maggie Gresham and her husband Dwayne and Steven Garcia and his wife Vickie all of Amarillo and Clifford Garcia and his wife Charlene of Dimmitt; 28 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

John is preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Mary Lou Chambless and Angelina Garcia; two sons, Juanito and Daniel Garcia, a grandson, Michael Brito; seven brothers and sisters, Celso, Albert, Benito and Leo T. Garcia and Pita Cordova and Mary Andrada.
