J ohnny Goodwin, 96, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on February 5, 2020 in Loveland, Colorado.  Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 1:30PM in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. T.C. Broom officiating.  Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.

Johnny was born in Sweetwater, Oklahoma on August 28, 1923 to James Page Goodwin and Nelia (Worlow) Goodwin.  Johnny was raised and graduated high school in Sweetwater.  He then moved to Dimmitt, Texas in 1941.  Johnny married Harriet (Stephenson) Goodwin on July 16, 1943 in Clovis, New Mexico.  They moved to El Paso, Texas in 1962 where he started his own service station business until 1982 when he retired.   They both moved to Beaver, Oklahoma in 1982 until 1999 when he and Harriett moved back to Dimmitt to take care of her mother.

As a young man, Johnny was very involved in playing many sports and he and Harriett even bowled in several leagues.  But most of all Johnny loved to play golf even up to the age of 95.  Every year Johnny was able to shoot his age beginning at the age of 69.

Johnny is survived by his son, Johnny Dwayne Goodwin and wife Daphne of Berthoud, CO, son-in-law, Stanley Nelson and wife Cathy of Dimmitt, TX, 1 brother, Doyle Gene Goodwin and wife Leah of Abilene, TX, 6 grandchildren, Roy Scott Nelson, Lisa Gayle Morgan, Laura Lee Nelson, Leslie Lynn Nelson, Nicholas Dain Goodwin and Mark Edward Goodwin and 11 great-grandchildren.

Johnny is preceded in death by his wife Harriet Goodwin, daughter, Connie Lee Nelson, parents, James Page Goodwin and Nelia Goodwin, step-mother, Vulla Goodwin along with 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
