Johnny R. Leal, 67, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 in Lavon, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 10:30AM in the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Israel Olivo officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Johnny R. Leal was born on June 25, 1954 in El Campo, Texas to Walter G. Leal and Eloisa (Rodriguez) Leal. Johnny attended school in Roswell and graduated from Roswell High School. He was a longtime resident of Dimmitt, Texas and worked for Cargill for many years. He later became a truck driver in the agriculture industry working for Rick Wright prior to his retirement. Johnny enjoyed riding his motorcycle during his free time along with watching the Washington Redskins and listening to music. But most of all he will be remembered as being a Christian man who loved his family very much.
Johnny is survived by his son, Ruben Leal of Lavon, Texas, sisters, Linda Lopez and husband Francisco of Dimmitt, Texas, Paula Garcia and husband George of Odessa, Texas and Mary Navarro of Dimmitt, Texas.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, spouse, Tomasa Leal and 2 sisters, Anna Valdez and Gloria Garcia.
