?Jose Elpidio Chavez, 38, of Dimmitt passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 3:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dimmitt with Rev. Raj Arockia officiating, burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary and vigil to be Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Jose was born May 1, 1979 in Plainview, Texas to Jose Chavez and Yolanda Mendez. Jose had been a resident of Dimmitt all his life. He graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1998. He was a self-employed truck driver and owned and operated "La Ranita" trucking. He was an Oakland Raiders fan, he enjoyed cook-outs with his family and friends and listening to music but above all these he especially loved his three daughters.

He is survived by his three daughters, Magdalyn, Renae and Rosalia Chavez all of Dimmitt; his parents, Jose Chavez of Dimmitt and Yolanda Mendez of Oklahoma; five brothers, Steven Paz of Minnesota, Carlos Chavez of Dimmitt, Julian Chavez of Brownfield, Jose A. Chavez of Odessa and Fabian Chavez of Hereford, three sisters, Josephine and Laura Chavez both of Hereford and Maria Chavez of Arizona, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
