Jose P. Guzman, 90, of Hart, Texas passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 in Olton, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, at 3:00 PM at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Hart with Rev. Raj Arockia as concelebrant, burial to follow at Hart Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Jose was born July 6, 1926 in Santa Namaya, Michoacan, Mexico to Salvador and Teresa (Perez) Guzman. He has been a resident of Castro County since 1963. He married Hermelinda Bedolla on April 21, 1950 in Mexico. Jose was a farmhand the majority of his adult life. He worked for Cargill for 10 years retiring from there. Jose attended church at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Hart. He enjoyed working in his yard, getting up early to cut alfalfa for his grandson's cattle, he loved playing dominoes, singing and here recently getting plenty of rest.

He is survived by his wife, Hermelinda Guzman of Hart, 2 sons, Mario Guzman and his wife Beatrice and Arthur Guzman and his wife Andrea both of Hart; 4 daughters, Beatrice Martinez and her husband Lupe of Hart, Imelda Menchaca and Hilda Ballew both of Plainview and Eloisa Gonzales of Hart; 1 brother, Enrique Guzman of Bryan; 15 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Romaldo Guzman and a daughter Maria Guzman, a grandson, Javier Guzman, 5 brothers and 1 sister.
