Joy Baker, 85, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Dimmitt.  Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00AM in the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt with Leroy Maxwell officiating.  Local arrangements are under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.

Joy (Burrows) Baker was born on February 22, 1933 in Delhi, Oklahoma to Carl Burrows and Ruthie (Cunningham) Burrows.  Joy married Bob Baker on November 11, 1950 in Clovis, New Mexico.   Joy was a longtime resident of Dimmitt and was a homemaker for many years until she returned to school and received her degree in nursing.   Her calling was caring for other people and no better way than to become a nurse.  Joy was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and was very involved in the community for many years.  Although Joy loved caring for people, her greatest love was caring for her family and spending all the time she could with her grandchildren.

Joy is survived by her husband, Bob Baker of Dimmitt, TX, 1 son, Bobby Baker and wife Cindy of Kingwood, TX, 1 daughter, Rhenea Webb and husband Gary of Dimmitt, 3 brothers, Forest Joe Burrows of Amarillo, TX, Jerry Burrows of Cordell, OK and Geary Don Burrows of Sayre, OK, 7 grandchildren, Amy, James, Kurt, Kylie, Chanda, Erin and April, 4 great-grandchildren, Tristan, Brennen, Joah and Coen.

Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Carl Burrows and Ruthie Burrows, 1 sister, Frances Bonham and 1 brother, Vernon Burrows.
