Juan S. Rodriguez, 66, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 8, 2017 in Dimmitt, Texas.  Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Mass of Christian Burial to follow on Friday, July 14, 2017 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Raj Arockia as celebrant.  Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.

Juan was born April 26, 1951 in San Benito, Texas to the late Julian and Rosa (Sanchez) Rodriguez.  He was employed as a backhoe operator for E. M. Jones Ditching and Irrigation for 20 years and later for Arturo Reyes and 2 Way Irrigation.  He enjoyed being outdoors, loved fishing, playing pool and spending as much time as possible with his two grandchildren. Juan's favorite TV show was El Chavo Del Ocho and was known for always singing his favorite song "Yesterday" by The Beatles.

He is survived by his wife, Margarita Rodriguez; children, Johnny Rodriguez, Cecilia Rodriguez Lopez (Adam) all of Dimmit, TX and Leticia Rodriguez Pope (Les) of Hewitt, TX; 5 sisters, Eloisa Leal of Dimmitt, TX., Martina Lopez of Elk City, TX., Fabiana Saldana of Amarillo, TX., Elida Garza of Dimmitt, TX., and Mary Lopez of San Angelo, TX.; and 2 grandchildren, Landen Dale Pope and Larsen Blain Pope.

Juan was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.

A grandfather is someone with silver in his hair and gold in his heart.
