Julia Gayle (Podzemny) Bennett, age 40, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 2:00PM at the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Bhaskar Adusupalli, Deacon Bob Birkenfeld and Deacon Joe Hochstein as celebrants. Burial will follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 6:00PM at the church.
Julia was born on September 7, 1981, to Randy and Barbara Clay Podzemny in Clayton, New Mexico. She attended school and graduated in Clayton in 2000. She went on to Abilene Christian University where she earned her master's degree in Speech Pathology. She lived in Clayton after graduation and worked with Children's Workshop with birth to 3-year old's. While living in Clayton, Julia was a member of the Sedan Volunteer Fire Department. Julia met the love of her life Andy Bennett in Hart, Texas. They were married on May 19, 2007, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Dalhart, Texas. Andy and Julia made their home in Hart where they started their blessed lives together farming with their 3 boys. Julia worked for ECI in Plainview until she gave up her loved career working with babies to raise her own little boys. They were her pride and joy. She was a wonderful baker and cooked for many occasions. Julia's faith and church was at the heart of everything she did. She belonged to Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth where she was a member of the Christian Mothers Society and was Co-Director of the Religious Education Program. She helped prepare Meals on Wheels and anything the church needed.
Julia is survived by her husband, Andy Bennett of Hart, TX, 3 sons, Drew Bennett, Colton Bennett, and Wyatt Bennett all from the home, parents, Randy and Barbara Podzemny of Amarillo, TX, brother, Todd Podzemny of Oklahoma City, OK, grandmother, Peggy Jean Clay of Amistad, NM, grandfather, Eugene Podzemny and wife Pat of Clayton, NM.
She is preceded in death by an unborn son, Joey, grandmother, Phyllis Acker Podzemny and grandfather, James D. Clay.
