Kenneth (Kenny) Craig Powell, Sr. 69 of Lubbock, Texas passed away December 27, 2024, after battling health issues for several years. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 30, 2024, at 2:00 pm with Dr. Jonathan Sullivan officiating at the Colonial Funeral Home in Dimmitt, Texas. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm prior to the Celebration of Life Memorial Service.

Kenny was born May 13, 1955, in Dimmitt, Texas to Merton E and Marzell (Beavers) Powell, with big sisters Vickie and Cindy at home awaiting his arrival.  He attended schools in Dimmitt, he was a member of the Class of 1973 and enjoyed playing football, where he developed his love for the Dallas Cowboys! After school he worked in several different occupations then he began what became a lifelong career in the vegetable industry. This career took him deep into the Valley of Texas and across various states where he worked with several vegetable companies in the Texas Cooperative Inspection Program as a USDA Vegetable Inspector, inspecting items such as limes, grapefruits, potatoes, avocados, onions and peanuts, his least favorite!

Kenny was a man of few words; he had a big heart, and his love was as big, big as his heart. He had several lifelong friends that knew this love. He is survived by three children Jennifer Carol Powell of Galveston, Texas, Ryan Craig Powell of Burleson, Texas and Kenneth Craig Powell Jr, of San Antonio, Texas and one sister Vickie Bennett of Lubbock, Texas, nieces Amy Bennett, Whitney Ethridge, and Lyndsey Ethridge all of Lubbock, Texas, great nieces Kylee Coffman, Kaislynn and Kambryn Ethridge, great nephew Preston  Nichols all of Lubbock, Texas, great nephew Slaton Sparger of Ft Worth, Texas and a host of cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Cindy Pack and her daughter Stacey Whatley.
