Lee "Red" Ward, 91, of Dimmitt, Texas went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 14, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 2:00PM in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Mullins and Pastor Bobby Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direct care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Lee "Red" Ward was born June 17, 1928 in Sikeston, Missouri to Brent and Ellen (Truell) Ward. On August 16, 1952 Lee married the love of his life Doris Ward. Lee served in the United States Army for three years while being stationed in Korea. After being discharged from the Army Lee worked for Bell Telephone Company and then began farming and driving a truck in his later years before retirement. Lee enjoyed hunting wild hogs, deer and turkey including all kinds of wild life while also enjoying horseback riding and bowling. He also had a wonderful sense of humor and kept that sense of humor throughout his life. That sense of humor carried on even into his last days at the VA Medical Center. Most importantly, Lee loved the Lord, his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Doris Ward, of Dimmitt, 1 son, Joe Ward and wife Diane of Hereford, TX, 3 daughters, Debra Harvey and husband Travis of Albuquerque, NM, Dianne Berkner and husband Dale of Sioux Falls, SD and Tammy Allison and husband Greg of Anaheim, CA, 10 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gary Lee Ward, sister, Marie Ward, 2 brothers, Wesley Ward and Marvin Ward and daughter-in-law, Janie Ward.
