Lorenzo "Papi" Rodriguez, 79, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 1, 2018 surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 10:00AM in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Arociaraj Malapady and Deacon John Niño as celebrants. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direct care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary and Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 starting at 6:00PM in the funeral home.
Lorenzo was born on November 6, 1938 in Placitas, Chihuahua Mexico to Jesús Rodriguez and Gregoria Rodriguez. Lorenzo married Lidia (Hernandez) Rodriguez in 1959 and out of their marriage came eight children. He was an area farmer throughout his life. Lorenzo enjoyed working out on the farms and attending the horse races. One of the biggest enjoyments was returning back to Mexico to visit friends and family. He was especially proud being a grandfather to his many grandchildren.
Lorenzo is survived by his 4 sons, Raul Rodriguez and wife Lisa, Roger Rodriguez, Jerry Rodriguez and Ricky Rodriguez and wife Jessica, 4 daughters, Bertha Martinez and husband Rudy, Olga Rodriguez, Susan Garcia and husband Ray and Elsa Marquez, 1 sister, Magdalena Rodriguez, 30 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Lorenzo is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lidia Rodriguez and 1 brother Rogelio Rodriguez.
