LulaMae Hanes passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in Dimmitt. Graveside services will be Thursday, May 30, 2013 in the Hart Cemetery at 10:00 AM with Gerald Bedwell officiating. Family visitation will be Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00PM. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. LulaMae was born on July 20, 1921 in Custer County, Oklahoma to Charles and Annie Helton Taylor. She was raised in Clinton, Oklahoma. She married Charles Curtis Hanes on November 17, 1947. They moved to Castro County in 1967 from Paris, Texas. Charles passed away in 1972 and LulaMae remarried in 2007 to Kenneth Covington. Kenneth Covington passed away in 2009. She was a farmer, rancher and librarian in Hart for many years and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, canning and she loved her grandchildren. She was a member of the Hart Church of Christ and the Zealot Club of Hart. She is survived by her 3 sons; Steven Hanes and his wife Gwyn of Miami, OK., Clay Hanes of Quapaw, OK., and Chris Hanes and his wife Shelly of Canyon. 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband Charles Curtis Hanes, her 2nd husband Kenneth Covington; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
