Darrell Lynn "Buck" Buchanan, 66, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 in Canyon. Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 2:00PM in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Deacon Bob Birkenfeld officiating. Viewing will be held on Friday, March 27, 2020 from 2:00PM – 5:00PM with funeral arrangements being entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Due to the mandates that have been placed on several businesses and funeral homes because of the COVID-19 virus, the graveside service will be livestreamed on Colonial Funeral Home Facebook page and the viewing will be limited to (10) people at a time. The Buchanan family is asking those to please recite the rosary, wherever you should be at 6:00PM on Friday and if you are not of the Catholic faith, please say a prayer in memory of Buck.
Lynn Buchanan was born on August 23, 1953 in Memphis, Texas to Earnest Earl Buchanan and Nora Elizabeth (Meacham) Buchanan.  Lynn grew up in Dimmitt, Texas and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1975. He later married Brenda (Bernethy) in 1977 before her sudden passing in 1983. In 1985, Lynn married Nancy (Acker). Lynn worked for Amstar/Cargill for 17 1/2 years before he became ill and during that time he volunteered as an EMT and volunteer fireman for the Dimmitt Volunteer Fire Department. Lynn was an avid fisherman along with his brother Lee and good friend J.R. Rials. Lynn enjoyed planting a garden and was known for having the largest garden in Dimmitt. But most of all he will be remembered as a faithful servant of the Holy Family Catholic Parish and one who loved his family.
Those left to cherish his memories are Nancy Buchanan of Plainview, TX, son, Brad Buchanan and wife Buffy of Canyon, TX, son, Cary Buchanan and wife Kelly of Canyon, TX, son, Ryan Buchanan of Kearney, NE, daughter, Sherrye Hernandez and husband Gilbert of Ft. Worth, TX, sister Joan Martin and husband Wayne of Amarillo, TX, mothers-in-law, Laverne Bernethy of Lubbock, TX and Angela Acker of Nazareth, TX, sister-in-law, Tommie Buchanan of Clyde, TX, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Lynn is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Buchanan, parents, Earl and Nora Buchanan, sister, Pamela Jane Bailey, brother, Earl "Lee" Buchanan, step-mother, Faye Yoakum along with his paternal and maternal grandparents.
A special "thank you" to SkyWest Assisted Living Facility and to Accolade Hospice for the love and care that was shown to Lynn and the family during this difficult time.
