Raymond Lynn West, 72 of Dimmitt passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in Dimmitt. Lynn was born December 3, 1942 in Dumas, Texas to Raymond C. and Cora Ethell (Carrell) West. He has been a lifelong resident of Dimmitt. Lynn joined the United States Navy on Nov. 30, 1960-Nov. 29, 1966. He married Twila Lilley on June 18, 1965 in Gatesville, Texas. He was a barber for 50 years. He was a member of the Fourth & Bedford Church of Christ, He was voted Volunteer Fireman of the Year in 1988, was a 4-H Trap Shot Leader, where he led the boys to Vandalia, Ohio winning there and had many state title wins. He was a member of the Dimmitt Jaycees for many years. Lynn enjoyed making money figurines such as rings, bow ties, shirts, peace cranes and elephants. He was a fantastic bread maker and peanut brittle maker. He is survived by his wife Twila West of Dimmitt, a daughter Tama Lassiter and her husband Coby of Hereford and a son Todd West of Dimmitt; 3 grandchildren Berkley and Derek Lassiter and Brian West; one brother C.D. West and his wife Nancy of Lubbock. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Sheila Stowell
