Mae Hargrove, 90, a longtime resident of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022, in Dimmitt, Texas. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Dimmitt with Rev. Eliezer Garrivo officiating. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas.

Mae was born on January 5, 1932, in Randolph, Texas, to William Claude and Darkus Faye (Rushing) Key. Mae has been a resident of Dimmitt, Texas since she was 17 years old. She married Don Hargrove on December 22, 1951. Mae worked at the Dimmitt Drug Store for several years before she became a stay-at-home mom with Deana until she started school. Mae eventually joined Dr. Vandiver's practice and worked there for many years until the birth of her second daughter, Laura, and became a stay-at-home mom until she was ready to begin school. Mae decided on a new career change and started beautician school in Hereford and worked as a beautician, retiring at the age of 80, in 2012, to take care of her husband. Mae was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dimmitt; she was a member of the My Lady Garden Club and the Women's Bowling Team. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her yard, painting, sewing, quilting, and crafts. She had a group of friends that met every morning for their cup of coffee and fellowship; Mae was always very active amongst her friends and in the community.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Deana Beames and her husband Tony of Dimmitt, Texas, and Laura Ethridge of Colorado Springs, CO.; 5 grandchildren Robin Curry and her husband Lex, Sherri Boyd, Clint Ethridge, Dillon Beames and his wife Jaimye, and Kerri West; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 brother Mickey Key and his wife Wilma of Lubbock, Texas.

Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don Hargrove, 3 brothers Johnny, Claude, and Donald Key, and 3 sisters Margaret Rogers, Louise Goodson, and Della Martin.
