Manuel Ortiz, 79, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2020 in Dimmitt. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jeff Messer officiating.  A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Cremation services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Manuel was born on January 21, 1941 in Cuidad Acuña, Coahuila Mexico to Concepcion and Gregoria Ortiz. He married Esther (Torrez) in Mexico and they both came to Dimmitt in 1972. Manuel was a man of many trades such as farming, carpentry, cement work and working in the cotton gin. He loved the outdoors, especially being at his Ranchito taking care of his animals. He loved his family and had many friends. The grandchildren could feel his warmth and love by the way he would smile at them. Manuel would help anyone in time of need and he will be missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded by his parents, his sisters; Trinidad Ortiz, Minerva Ortiz and Josefina Ortiz, his grandson; Christopher Joseph Ortiz.

He is survived by his wife; Esther Ortiz of Dimmitt, his children; Jose Antonio Ortiz and wife Bernice of Amarillo, Victor Manuel Ortiz and wife Maria of Bovina, Pedro Ortiz and wife Leticia of Dimmitt, Daniel Ortiz and wife Maria of Amarillo and Veronica Pacheco and husband Raul of Dimmitt, his brothers and sisters; Concepcion Ortiz of Mexico, Juan Ortiz of Chicago, Ignacio Ortiz of Del Rio, Lucia Ortiz and Maria Ortiz both of Mexico and Elodia Ortiz of Chicago, his grandchildren; Valerie, Joseph, Joshua,  and Jessica of Amarillo,  Daniel Jr. and  Ceasar of Amarillo, Lorenzo and Pablo of Dimmitt, Victor, Jesus and  Marco of Bovina, Vicente, Ivan and Mia of Dimmitt and 10 great grandchildren.
