Margarita Martinez, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, in Dimmitt, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on June 11, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of the late Rafaela (Arguellez) Garcia and Pedro Gauna Garcia, and one of eleven siblings in a large, loving family.

Margarita spent the majority of her life in Dimmitt, where she met and married the love of her life, Jose Carlos Martínez, on September 9, 1961. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, family and devotion—a home that would become the heart of an ever-growing family.

Their union was blessed with ten children, and Margarita dedicated her life to her family with love, strength, and grace.

She was a devoted homemaker whose love could be felt in every corner of her home and in every meal she lovingly prepared. Her kitchen was the gathering place where stories were shared and laughter echoed. No matter how large the family grew, she made each person feel uniquely cherished.

Margarita led by example—loving unconditionally and always showing deep concern for the well-being of her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Her love was expressed through countless quiet gestures of care. One such act was her nightly phone calls to Maryann; she would stay on the line during her daughter's late night drives home from work, never hanging up until she knew she was safe at home. These small but powerful expressions of love brought comfort, security, and a lasting sense of being cherished to all who were lucky enough to call her Mom or Grandma..

Her home was her sanctuary—she found joy in decorating it with warmth and beauty. She had a special love for her rose bushes, which Richard tended with care and pride for her. Shopping trips with her family were among her favorite pastimes, filled with laughter, bonding, and long hours of shopping at Sears and TJ Maxx. All those shared memories will be cherished forever.

She is survived by her loving children:
Joe Martínez of Summerville;
Steve Martínez and wife Donna of Summerville;
Jerry Martinez and wife Aracely of New Braunfels;
Richard Martínez of Dimmitt;
Maryann Jurado and husband Lewis of Dimmitt;
Jarvey Martinez and wife Jeanette of San Antonio; and
Donald Martinez of Dimmitt.

Also surviving are her brother, Jesse Garcia of Plainview; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren—each of whom carries a piece of her in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jose Carlos Martínez; her parents, Rafaela and Pedro Garcia; three of her beloved children, including Diane Galvez; five sisters; and four brothers. Margarita's legacy is one of love—love expressed in quiet sacrifices, in gentle touches, in warm meals, in whispered prayers. She leaves behind a family bound by the strength of her example and the warmth of her spirit. Her memory will live on in every embrace, every tradition, and every moment her family shares together. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever honored.
