Marguerite "Memaw" McLain, 85, of Hart, Texas passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 in Dimmitt. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Hart at 10:30 am with Mr. Roy Shave officiating, burial to follow at Hart Cemetery. Family visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Marguerite was born August 5, 1926 in Floydada, Texas to Ray and Alla Compton Bennett. She has lived most of her life in Hart, Texas. She was a distinguished alumni of Hart Schools. She was two term Mayor of Hart, Texas, she served on Hart School Board; she was a member of countless clubs and civic organizations. She was a member of Hart Church of Christ. She was active in the Republican Party, but most important she was "Memaw" to all her family and friends. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Linda McLain of Hart; one grandson, John Darryl McLain of Hart and one granddaughter, Amy Lyn McLain of Portland, Oregon and one brother, Bob Bennett of Hart. She is preceded in death by her husband, Laurence McLain, three children, Darryl, Dennis and Lauren Suzie McLain and two brothers, Ed and Byron Bennett.
