Maria Luz Mendoza, 80, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 in Lubbock, Texas.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11:00AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Arockiaraj Malapady, Deacon John Niño and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants.   Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.  Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the funeral home.

Maria Luz Mendoza was born on July 18, 1938 in Cortazar, GTO, Mexico to Rafael Diaz Negrete and Domitla (Olvera) Diaz.  Maria moved to Castro County in 1977 and was a homemaker raising her children and also working as a farm laborer.  Maria enjoyed spending time cooking for her family, listening to her children and grandchildren playing music, knitting, crocheting, playing bingo, going to casinos and singing, but above all else she loved spending time with her family.  Maria was a devoted catholic and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Maria is survived by her children, Miguel Mendoza and wife Martina of Lubbock, TX, Ramon Mendoza of Dimmitt, TX, Francisco Mendoza of Dimmitt, TX, Jesus Mendoza and wife Bertha of Friona, TX, Josefina Garcia and husband Domingo of Lubbock, TX, Salud Mendoza and wife Irma of Lubbock, TX, Lola Nikouline of Keller, TX, Froylan Mendoza and wife Sandra of Amarillo, TX and Leonardo Mendoza and wife RoseMary of Lubbock, TX, sisters, Teresa Romero of Mexico, Maria Lopez of San Francisco, CA and Lourdes Giron of San Francisco, CA, 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Froilan Mendoza, son, Jose Mendoza and a sister, Celia Tirado.
