Maria Reveca “Rebecca” Sandoval, 73, of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in Dimmitt. 

Born on October 16, 1952, in Dimmitt, Texas, Rebecca was the daughter of Reyes Sandoval and Ramona (Rodriguez) Sandoval. She graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1972 and worked at Anthonys Department Store, K-bob’s, Lowe’s, and as a plant operator checking in trucks. She also cherished the opportunity to stay home with her children for several years and take care of her nieces and nephews.

Rebecca volunteered at the Dimmitt Food Pantry, where she enjoyed serving others and her community. A member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dimmitt, she was devoted to her faith and prayer. Rebecca was a talented seamstress, she made clothes for her children and created prom dresses, wedding gowns, and suits, while also providing tailoring for many in the Dimmitt community. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and canning, and won first place at the Dimmitt Harvest Days for many years for her jams, jellies, and crocheted pieces. Rebecca was a hardworking, strong, independent, caring, and selfless mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who lovingly and openly shared how she felt and how she believed things should be.

She is survived by her two children, Sonya Gonzalez and husband James of San Antonio, Texas and Javier Sandoval and wife Annette of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Karina Stille and husband Greg, Kathryn Rodriguez, Jasmin Gonzalez, James Gonzalez, Jr., Mackenzie Sandoval, Christian Sandoval, and Mia Sandoval; great granddaughter Yvette Rae Stille; siblings, Herminia Salinas (Pedro) of Dimmitt, Yolanda Barret (Ronnie) of Alamo, Texas, Elvia Casilla of Plainview, Texas, Ray Sandoval, Jr. of Amarillo, Texas, George Sandoval (Debbie) of Arlington, Texas, Norma Velvick of California, and Loretta Sandoval of Dimmitt, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents Reyes and Ramona Sandoval.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Concepcion Catholic Church in Dimmitt with Father David Contreras as celebrant. Burial of Cremains will follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction and care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

A Rosary/Vigil service will be on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 5:30 PM at Colonial Funeral Home in Dimmitt.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Rebecca’s honor to the American Epilepsy Society, aesnet.org; or the Dimmitt Food Pantry, 113 W Bedford St., Dimmitt, Texas, 79027.

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same—It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. --You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. --Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
