Maria Sepeda of Dimmitt passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, in Saginaw, Texas, at the age of 89.

A rosary and viewing will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home located at 809 Butler Blvd, Dimmitt, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will occur on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 1001 W. Halsell St, Dimmitt, Texas with Rev. David Contreras and Deacon John Nino as celebrants.  Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.

Born on April 9, 1936, in Dilley, Texas, Maria was the daughter of Jesus and Victoria Moreno and stepmother Beatrice Moreno. On September 14, 1952, she married Francisco "Pancho" Sepeda, the love of her life, with whom she shared 42 wonderful years until his passing in 1994.
Maria was a devoted wife and mother known for her strong will and independence. She loved singing with the church choir and cherished her friendships. As a family matriarch, she was loved and respected by many in the community.

Maria is survived by her two daughters, Rosa and her husband David Niño of Emory, Texas, and Ydolina and her husband Gilbert Niño of Fort Worth, Texas. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, as well as her sisters, Ruby Rios and husband David of Grand Prairie, Texas, Jayne Cantu and husband Lupe of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Maribel and husband Mario of Pearsall, Texas. Additionally, she is survived by her brothers, Eliberto Moreno and Jose Moreno of Dilley, Texas, Trinidad Moreno of Dallas, Texas, and her cherished niece, Norma Herrera of Dilley, Texas.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her two sons, Jesse and Andrew Sepeda, her sister, Marcela Ballesteros, and four stepbrothers: Porfirio, Jesus Jr., Mando, and David Moreno. Her great-granddaughter, Addison Grae Niño, also precedes her.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to everyone who showed Maria kindness, love, and care during her time in Dimmitt, providing visits and food and ensuring she had groceries and rides to church.
