Marshall Henderson's Obituary
Marshall Henderson, 59 of Dimmitt passed away on Tuesday December 18, 2018 in Amarillo, TX. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday January 26, 2019 at The Shed starting at 12 p.m. until the food runs out. In Marshall's "younger years" he could be found at the Dimmitt VFW or the Country Club working as one of the best bartender's in the Panhandle. In 2005 Marshall's mother Ann Henderson founded Castro County Cares and with that came the need for someone to collect town donations and deliver surplus to other charities in the Panhandle, and that someone was Marshall. He took that job quite serious especially in June during City wide garage sale day. After the loss of his mother in 2012 Marshall took over the U-Haul business. Marshall was larger than life when it came to his friends and family. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Marshall was known to call everyone sweetie, except for his niece Meredith who he called Booter. Marshall's favorite things to do were drinking Dr. Pepper and playing lottery tickets, unless there was a crawfish derby going on, then he was headed there to be the designated driver for his friends. Let's just say that Marshall was Uber before there was Uber! Seriously! If you were too impaired, or just didn't want to drive yourself, Marshall was there to get you home safely! Marshall loved going to the Shed and helping his friends fix up the clubhouse for the Top of the Hill Gang. When he was inducted, he felt like a million bucks. He was so proud that night, he called everyone in his family to share his crowning moment. Marshall was one great pool player and loved sharing his knowledge with anyone that wanted a few lessons. Marshall's other talent was MASSAGES!! We kept telling him to charge money and he would be rich, but no, he just enjoyed making others feel good. Marshall Lynn was such a good-hearted person, he would do anything for anyone and would not ask for anything in return.
Words can't express how much Marshall meant to his family and friends, or how much we miss him already. The Henderson family would like to thank Gloria Hernandez for continuing Castro County Cares and taking such great care of Marshall for us, because after Mom's passing we do not know what we would have done without your dedication to the shop and Marshall Lynn! We would also like to thank Marlon Backus for being like a brother to Marshall and for always including him in your plans. He thought the world of you and considered you a brother. A special thank you to Toni Eaton for being there for Marshall, especially when he started his treatment!! To David Allison, The Top of the Hill Gang and Pink Ladies for always checking on Marshall making him part of your gang!
Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Marshall, although it may not be goodbye, but just "see you later". He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. Maybe he's resting on a mountain high above or riding a fast Harley Davidson around. Wherever he is, we know that he is pain free and with his parents, siblings, and the rest of the family that was taken way too soon. May he Rest in Peace. We Love You Marshall Lynn Henderson.
