Marshall Young, 68, of Dimmitt passed away on January 9, 2012 in Amarillo. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 2:00PM in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Donna Johnston and Rev. D.E. Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at the funeral home. Marshall was born on August 2, 1943 in Littlefield, Texas to Roosevelt and Okle Young. Marshall grew up in Spade, Texas and graduated high school from Dimmitt High in 1961. After graduation, he farmed with his family in Castro County. He was elected Justice of the Peace for Castro County and served the county for 24 years before retiring in 1998. He enjoyed chili and Bar-B-Q cook offs and cooking for different charities. He also enjoyed playing golf and singing. Marshall is survived by 1 daughter, Darla Rice and husband Dennis of Canyon, TX, 5, sisters, Ruth Mitchell and husband Robert of Gravette, Arkansas, Bobbie Pierson of Petersburg,TX, Mary Bretey of Thornton, Colorado, Rosie Hall and husband Gearld of Lubbock, Texas and Christine Bridges of Hereford, 4 grandchildren, Danielle Rice, Deanne Rice, Destinee Rice, and Delainee Rice, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt (Bud) and Okle Young, his spouse, Tana Young, 1 sister, Pauline Bridges.
