Mary Rivera, 78, of Dimmitt, passed away on March. 2, 2011 in Amarillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat. March 5, 2011 at 10:00AM in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dimmitt with Rev. Lupe Mayorga and Rev. Ken Keller as celebrants. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary will be recited on Friday at 6:30 PM in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mary was born on March 28, 1932 in Anson, TX to Elijio and Jilita Jimenez. She lived in Dimmitt since 1958 after marrying Richard Rivera Sr. on Dec. 23, 1949 in Anson, TX. She was a homemaker and caretaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church and she was a member of the Guadalupana, a member of the Legion of Mary, and was in the Crucillistas movement. She is survived by 2 sons, Richard Rivera and wife Carmen of Plainview, Henry Rivera and wife Teresa of Amarillo; 2 sisters Elsa Sanchez of Altus, OK, and Dora Jimenez of Dimmitt; 5 grandchildren, Melissa Ann Martinez, Andrew Ray Rivera, Jerry Rivera, Daphanie Rivera, and Ashley Marie Rivera; 2 Great-grandchildren, Ian Martinez and Megan Martinez. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Rivera Sr., 1 son Edward Rivera, 3 brothers Ismael Jimenez, Ray Jimenez, and Abundio Jimenez; 3 sisters, Lilly Ybarra, Juana Garcia, and Olivia Salinas.
