Mary Lou Rountree, 87, of Hereford passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 13, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt at 10:00 AM with Kenneth Frye officiating and burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family and friend visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.

Mary Lou was born September 21, 1928 in Axtell, Texas to James and Martha Huffstutler. She graduated from Penelope High School as Valedictorian in Penelope, Texas. She married Winston Rountree on October 30, 1948 in Clovis, NM. She and Winston made their home in Littlefield and farmed there and in Bovina. They moved to Dimmitt in 1957 where Mary Lou worked for FSA office (Farm Service Agency) for 37 years, retiring in 1995. She later moved to Amarillo becoming a CASA advocate for 4 years, she eventually made her home in Hereford till her illness. Her hobbies were bowling, she was on a bowling league that attended the State Tournament quite often, she was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Braves, she liked John Wayne, she enjoyed reading but most of all she loved to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports.

She is survived by her daughter Cindy Bradley and her husband Lee from Dimmitt; a grandson Clay Lytle and his wife Maggi, a granddaughter Sheri Smith and her husband Zach all of Dimmitt; two step-grandsons Justin Bradley and wife Kassi of Sunnyside and Joel Bradley of Hereford; 8 great grandchildren Jesslyn Smith, Brennan Lytle, Caitlan Smith, Meggan Lytle, Madelyn Smith, Ashton Cone, Bailee White, Caullen Bradley and 2 great-great grandchildren Acie and Quince Cone, 5 nephews and 2 nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Winston Rountree and a sister Dorothy Fagg.
