Marylyn Higgins, 84, of Hart, Texas passed away from this earth and into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 in Dimmitt, Texas.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:00AM in the First Baptist Church of Hart with Dr. Gene Meacham officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Marylyn (Riley) Higgins was born on August 22, 1936 at home in Springlake, Texas to Furche Clay Riley and Etta Mae (Sanders) Riley. She graduated from Springlake High School and then attended West Texas State University. Marylyn met Doug Higgins and they were married on December 20, 1955 at the First Baptist Church of Springlake. They moved to the Hart community in 1963 where they began to farm and raise their children. She was a Charter Member of the Hart Golden Group, member of the Hart Bridge Club and member of the First Baptist Church of Hart. Marylyn enjoyed playing bridge, golf and loved to bake for her family.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her 2 children, Daniel Higgins and wife Sheila of Canyon, TX and Lesa Gilbert and husband Mike of Cedar Park, TX, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Eugene Higgins of Austin, TX and 2 sisters-in-law, Charlene Riley of Earth, TX and Juanice Glasscock of Earth, TX.
Marylyn is preceded in death by her husband, Doug Higgins, 1 brother, Robert Riley and 2 sisters, Elaine Herring and Eleanor Haberer.
