Marzell Powell, 86, of Dimmitt, TX passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:00PM in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. A family visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at the funeral home.

Marzell was born on February 18, 1930 in Lamb County, Texas to Robert Lee Beavers and Verna Nichols Beavers. She was raised in the Dimmitt area and attended the Dimmitt schools. In 1947, she married Merton Powell in Dimmitt and was a homemaker for many years raising their family. Marzell was very involved with her church in many different capacities throughout the years and was a current member of the First Baptist Church. Before becoming a member of First Baptist Church, her and her husband were charter members of Lee Street Baptist Church where they were members for many years. Marzell loved her family unconditionally and enjoyed taking care of them and spending quality time.

Marzell is survived by 2 daughters, Vickie Bennett and husband Joe of Lubbock and Cindy Pack of Lubbock, 1 son, Kenny Powell Sr. of Mission, 6 grandchildren, Amy Bennett, Whitney Ethridge, Lyndsey Nichols, Jennifer Powell, Ryan Powell and Kenny Powell, Jr., 5 great-grandchildren, Kylee Bennett, Slaton Sparger, Kaislynn Ethridge, Cambryn Ethridge, and Preston Nichols, special niece, Stella Goyne of Plainview.

Marzell is preceded in death by her husband, Merton Powell, 14 brothers and sisters, and 1 grandchild, Stacey Whatley.
