Maurice Edward Powell, 82, of Dimmitt, TX, died Friday, September 26, 2014 in Dimmitt, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with James Jones, Pastor of 4th & Bedford Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Stacy Cemetery in Stacy, Texas. Maurice was born on June 23, 1932 in Stacy, Texas to John Flem and Lillie Johnson Powell. He married Johnny Godfrey in 1951 in Dimmitt, Texas, she preceded him in death. He farmed and raised cattle in Castro County. His hobbies included watching football and most of all he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 Brothers: Lloyd Powell, Clyde Powell, Charles Ray Powell, and Mike Powell, 3 Sisters: Marguerite Hemphill, Hazel Powell, and Jean Howard.
