Melodee Younts, 69, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 in Dimmitt, Texas. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 10:30AM in the First Baptist Church with John Temme, music minister and son-in-law officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted with Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Melodee (Purvis) Younts was born on September 21, 1950 in Salem, Oregon to Melvin Purvis and Dorothy (Moffitt) Purvis. Melodee grew up in Eugene, Oregon where she graduated high school and later married Richard Younts on March 20, 1971. Melodee was influential in the dairy industry and was named the Oregon State Dairy Princess in Eugene, Oregon. Later, in Pennsylvania she became a pioneer in the home school movement and was very much an advocate for that movement. She was a proud mother of four children, who are very accomplished within their education with one having a PhD, two having master degrees and one being an international attorney with two of those being military veterans. Melodee devoted all her time and energy to her children and her grandchildren whom she loved very much. She will greatly be missed by her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Richard Younts of Dimmitt, TX, 4 children, Spring Dahl and husband Kyle of Sioux Center, IA, R. Davis Younts and wife Elizabeth of Marysville, PA, Molly Temme and husband John of Dimmitt, TX and Ty Younts and wife Sally of Virginia Beach, VA, 1 brother Mel Purvis of Veneta, OR, sister, Susan Jones and husband Kevin of Eugene, OR along with 12 grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Linda Simpson.
