Michael "Big Mike" Garrity, 58, of Hart, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 in Amarillo. Celebration of Life Services will be held at a later date in Hart, Texas. Cremation Services being held under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Michael D. Garrity was born on November 14, 1963 in Olton, Texas. Michael was a lifelong resident of Hart, Texas and attended the Hart Independent School District. Michael worked as a heavy equipment foreman for Hill Land & Cattle for several years and then became a truck driver in the agriculture industry. Michael married Mary (Coody) Garrity on December 6, 1996. After an injury, Michael retired from work and became a full time "PaPa" to his grandchildren. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, fishing, cooking outside and being surrounded by his family and friends while listening to music. Everyone always referred to him as "Big Mike." He was always finding the bright side of any situation and always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be missed by many and loved by all.
Michael is survived by his wife, Mary Garrity of Hart, daughters, Nicole Mendoza of Dallas and Jana Smothermon of Hart, son, John Sweet and wife Amber of Plainview, sister, Twila Ortiz and husband Fidel of Hart, brothers, Issac Vasquez and wife Lupe of Hart, Cody Garrity of Oregon and Jay Dee Garrity along with 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bill Garrity and Erma Vasquez along with a sister, Shala Comer.
