Milton "Paw Paw" Ivor Bagwell
Milton Ivor Bagwell gained his eternal reward on June 29, 2021. His final moments were spent with his beautiful bride, Gainell, by his side. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 2:00PM in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jonathan Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:30PM – 8:00PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Bagwell was born May 13, 1935, in Hereford, TX, and after living there only about a week, his parents took him home to grow up in Dimmitt, Texas.
He graduated from Dimmitt High School and completed two years of college at West Texas State in Canyon, TX. He continued his boots-on-the-ground agricultural education at his farm near Dimmitt and, later, ranching near Salida, Colorado. When his father retired, Milton returned to Dimmitt with his young wife, Sandra, and their six children to run the Bagwell family farm. Sandra preceded him in death in 2009, after 54 loving and faithful years together. Milton was a deacon at First Baptist Church, Dimmitt, TX, performing many roles. He also was a member of the Dimmitt Cemetery board for many years. Milton exemplified Jesus's love to others, not by preaching, but by demonstrating Christ's genuine patience and kindness, never envying or boasting, as outlined in 1 Corinthians 13.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of twelve years, Gainell Bagwell, and his seven children, Steve Bagwell (Anita), Randy Bagwell, Rick Bagwell, Scott Bagwell (Carolyn), Kyle Bagwell (Sandy), Carol Horner, and Shellie Collins (Kyle). Milton, "Paw Paw," will also be fondly remembered by his eleven grandchildren, Royce Moyers (Kaci), T. J. Moyers (April Cowell), Heather Johnson (Derrick), Eric Bagwell, Hayley Bagwell, Austin Bagwell (Taylor Coil), Ian Bagwell (Jessica), Jessica Jackson (Benjamin), Jaxtyn Bagwell, Cody Collins and Carolyn Balderaz (Randall). "Paw Paw" also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, Rylyn Moyers, Hallee Johnson, Austann Johnson, Dalton Johnson, Milton Jackson, Aster Jackson, Esther Balderaz, Benjamin Balderaz, and Tristan Bagwell. He is also survived by one sister, Nelda Falwell of Dallas, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews who love him very much.
He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Sandra, and his parents Ivor and Hazel (Dunn) Bagwell.
