Monty Boozer, 83, longtime resident of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.  Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 10:30AM at the First Methodist Church with Rev. Eliezer Garrido officiating.  Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 5:30PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Monty Boozer was born on September 5, 1939, in Salinas, California to Homer Monroe Boozer and Esther Merle Evans. His parents moved to Texas when Monty was three years old and then moved to Dimmitt where he started Dimmitt schools as an eighth grader.  He then graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1957.  On November 14, 1959, he married the love of his life, Sue Bagwell in Dimmitt at the First Methodist Church and would be celebrating their 64 years of marriage in November.
Monty was a longtime farmer and cattleman in Castro County where he was once a partner in the Dimmitt Feed yard.  He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Dimmitt, Dimmitt Wheat Growers Association, served on the Dimmitt school board and Past President along with serving in many other organizations throughout the years.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Sue Boozer of Dimmitt, children, Robert Boozer and wife Stacy of Dimmitt, Kyla Kenworthy and husband Tim of Canyon, and Britt Boozer and wife Karen of Lubbock, one brother, Glenn Boozer and wife Tillie of Las Vegas, New Mexico, nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Monty is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Oleda Raper and Ed Dena Byler along with a daughter-in-law, Kim Boozer.
