Paul Gerber, 59, of Amarillo, formerly of Nazareth passed away on May 11, 2015 in Amarillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30AM in Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Ken Keller and Rev. Nick Gerber as con-celebrants and Deacon Bob Birkenfeld officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6:45PM on Thursday with vigil service to follow. Local arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home. Paul Gerber was born on August 26, 1955 in Tulia to Leonard Gerber and Alvina Schmucker Gerber. Paul was an extraordinary individual, although he was almost 60 years of age he was always young at heart. He enjoyed his family, a good cold coke and joyrides, but most of all he enjoyed being around people and made many friends throughout his life. Paul was a resident of Community Options group home in Amarillo at the time of his passing. Paul is survived by his mother, Alvina Gerber of Nazareth, 1 sister, Connie Backus and husband Fritz of Hereford, 4 brothers, Mark Gerber of Nazareth, Roger Gerber and wife Glenda of Canyon, Mick Gerber and wife Jane of Nazareth, and Joel Gerber and wife Mary Beth of Nazareth, 1 uncle, Lawrence Schmucker of Nazareth, 1 aunt, Jerri Gerber of Canyon, 12 nieces and nephews and 20 great-nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his father, Leonard Gerber in 2001.
