Ponciano Aranda, 87, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in Dimmitt.  Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 6:00 P.M. in the Immaculate Conception of Mary Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial being held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Raj Arockia and Rev. Ken Keller officiating.  Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.

Ponciano was born on November 19, 1929 in San Benito, Texas to Pedro Aranda and Natividad (Escalante) Aranda.  Ponciano had been a resident of Dimmitt since 1963 and worked for Kenneth Jackson laying water pipe and gas lines then later went to work for Jones Ditching in Dimmitt until his retirement.  He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member of the Cursillista.  Ponciano enjoyed staying busy and loved singing, composing music, visiting other churches and working in his yard.

Ponciano is survived by 3 nieces, Juanita Vidal of Dimmitt, Dulia Perez of Dimmitt and Stella Flores of Amarillo.

He is preceded in death by his wife Juanita Aranda, his parents, and 8 brothers, 1 sister.
