Ramona Sandoval, 93, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 8, 2024.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father David Contreras, Deacon John Nino, and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants.  Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.  Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Colonial Funeral Home with vigil service following.
Ramona was born in Parras, Coahuila Mexico on August 29, 1930, to Inocencio Rodriguez and Matea Pena. On November 26, 1949, she married Reyes Acevedo Sandoval in Littlefield, Texas. The young couple established themselves in the Dimmitt community in 1951 and never left. Ramona and Reyes were married for almost 65 years.
She lived and loved life to the fullest by supporting all her children and husband as a homemaker. Ramona's cooking, canning, gardening and sewing skills were simple, yet extraordinary. Her famous tortillas, cornbread and fried chicken fed many people over countless school fundraisers. She enjoyed harvesting fresh vegetables and canning fruit from her garden. Flowers of all kinds were her passion. Her love for sewing clothes, crocheting afghans, and making embroidery for the family was passed along to her daughters.  Her greatest pleasure were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She kept every picture given and artwork made for her.
Ramona is preceded in death by her husband, Reyes Sandoval, granddaughter Rayna Matea Taylor, brothers Catarino & Crecencio and sister Paola P. Rodriguez.
She is survived by daughter Herminia and Pedro Salinas of Dimmitt, daughter Reveca Sandoval of Dimmitt, daughter Yolanda and Ronnie Barrett of Alamo, daughter Elvia Casillas of Plainview, son Ray Sandoval of Amarillo, son George and Debbie Sandoval of Arlington, daughter Norma Velvick of Hanford, CA, and daughter Loretta Sandoval of Dimmitt. She is blessed with 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
