Randy Michel Porter, 65, of Dimmitt, Texas entered into eternal rest on January 16, 2022 in Amarillo.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 10:30AM in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jonathan Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Viewing will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 1:00PM – 5:00PM at the funeral home
Randy was born May 11, 1956 in Littlefield, Texas, to Mollie Simon and Joe Porter Sr. He graduated from Dimmit High School in 1976, and attended one semester of college in California. He returned home to take care of his family and began work at Amstar, where he worked for 29 years. He married his sweetheart Jacqueline Washington on July 14, 1981, and were blessed with 2 children and many foster children during their 40 years of marriage.
Randy was active member of the community, lending a helping hand to whomever needed one. He was a Kids Inc. coach, and helped shape young men and women in sport and in life. He was a deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Dimmitt, where he taught Sunday school and served on the church board. Randy was a people person - there wasn't a place he could go and someone didn't know who he was. He always had time for a conversation and would take time to check in with friends, family, and acquaintance's in his daily travels. He loved food and was frequent visitor to local eateries, many of which knew him by name and order. When he wasn't getting out for food, he was in his home kitchen, cooking his own recipes or experimenting with recipes he had seen on Food Network. His many friends and acquaintance's will remember his passion for food and family, with an extra special place in heart for his grand-daughters, Raz, Nae, Kiki, Vali girl, Niya, and Lizabella Jade.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquie Porter of Dimmitt; ; his 2 children, Randy Michel Porter II and Rebecca Porter, both of Amarillo; 6 grand-daughters; his sisters, Doris Ewing of Dimmitt, Paula Porter-Chavez of Amarillo, Norma Jo Porter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his brother, Joe Porter Jr. of Dimmitt
He was preceded in death by his mother Mollie Simon; his father Joe Porter Sr; his sisters Ethel Robertson and Tracie Simon; his brothers Alvin Simon McDaniel Jr. and Johnny Simon.
