Raquel Salinas, 42, of Amarillo passed away on August 27, 2019 in Dimmitt, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 3:00PM in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Mullins of Abundant Family Life Church officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. A prayer service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Raquel Salinas was born on October 23, 1976 in Dimmitt, Texas to Richard Salinas and Stella (Ortiz) Lopez. Raquel was raised in Dimmitt with her mother, brother, Aunt Dora, grandparents, Jose and Maria along with many cousins. Raquel graduated from Dimmitt High School where she was involved in cheerleading, basketball, powerlifting and track. She enjoyed playing pool with friends, throwing darts, listening to all types of music, dancing, watching and smelling of rain fall, shopping for home décor and Dooney & Bourke purses, singing karaoke, collecting gift cards and making mums for homecoming. During football season, she loved getting together with family to watch the Dallas Cowboys. Raquel never missed a school function for her children and was always eager to place those pictures of her children in her scrapbook. But most of all, Raquel loved being with her family playing bingo on holidays along with other occasions and making up and playing games with her grandchildren.
Raquel is survived by her three children, John David Flores and wife Anabel of Brady, TX, Jennifer Flores and husband Kasey of Amarillo, TX and Gabryela Barrios of Amarillo, TX, mother, Stella Lopez of Dimmitt, TX, father, Richard Salinas of Amarillo, aunt, Dora Espinosa of Dimmitt, TX, brother, Miguel Salinas of Dimmitt, TX, six grandchildren, Jenasia, Elijah, Jedidiah, Uriah, Jerekiah and one on the way named Amelia.
Raquel was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jose and Maria Ortiz, paternal grandmother, Trinidad Salinas along with two cousins, Samuel Espinosa and Henry Rocha.
