Rhoda Mays, 89 of Decatur, formerly of Dimmitt died February 27, 2014 in Decatur. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens in Dimmitt 9:30 A.M. Monday March 3, 2014 with Memorial Services scheduled for 10:30 A.M. on Monday March 3, 2014 at Fourth and Bedford Church of Christ with James Jones, minister, officiating. Arrangements by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mrs. Mays was born March 3, 1924 in Swenson, Texas to Jesse Lee and Allie Nonie Cox Messenger. She married James Clyde Mays July 15, 1939. She was manager of the Dimmitt High School cafeteria for many years, was a member of the Dimmitt 42 and Sunshine Clubs, loved crocheting, crafting and gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son Wesley Lee Mays, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. Survivors include 3 sons- Anthony Mays and wife Mary of Decatur, Billy Mays and wife Sharla of Amarillo, and Andy Mays and wife Cynthia of Canadian, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great-grand-children. Family visitation will be Sunday March 2, 2014 6:00P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
